Pinus resinosa 'Monastery Gold' - Monastery Gold Red Pine
Monastery Gold is a golden conifer with open, pyramidal form. Needles are light green in summer becoming bright golden yellow in winter. Discovered and introduced by Blue Horizon Nursery, Monastery Gold was originally collected as a sport on the grounds of a Michigan monastery. Monastery Gold is relatively new and still under observation. Needle tips have shown slight burn in full sun. Prefers sun to part shade in well-drained soil. 5' tall x 2' wide in 5 years. Beautiful winter coloration. USDA zone 2.
