Pinus parviflora 'Tanima no yuki' - Tanima no yuki Japanese White Pine
A mounding conifer with blue-green needles with white tips. Candles extend initially with a slight pink coloration giving this a unique springtime appearance. The name means "snow in the valley" in Japanese. Prefers sun to part shade in well-drained soil. 18" tall x 18" wide in 10 years. USDA zone 5.
Pinus parviflora 'Tanima no yuki' (Tree Form) - Tanima no yuki Japanese White Pine (Tree Form)
This is an upright version of Tanima no yuki. Foliage is also blue-green needles with white tips. Candles extend initially with a slight pink coloration giving this a unique springtime appearance. Pinus resinosa 'Monastery Gold' - Monastery Gold Red Pine
Monastery Gold is a golden conifer with open, pyramidal form. Needles are light green in summer becoming bright golden yellow in winter. Discovered and introduced by Blue Horizon Nursery, Monastery Gold was originally collected as a sport on the grounds of a Michigan monastery. Monastery Gold is relatively new and still under observation. Needle tips have shown slight burn in full sun. Prefers sun to part shade in well-drained soil. 5' tall x 2' wide in 5 years. Beautiful winter coloration. USDA zone 2.
